Sumario:The Fine Arts Museum of Tandil has an important art collection, donated by Mercedes Santamarina, consisting in diverse pieces of a great historical and universal value. This article describes the formation of the collection, the donation to the museum in 1971, and its component parts. The objective is to show a patrimonial legacy of great relevance for the understanding of past societies, and also to investigate ways of art patronage in Argentine.
