| Sumario: | The juicios de residencias in America are significantly relevant in the reconstruction of the social and professional life of colonial judges. Witnesses inquired by the resident judge, provided valuable data about ministers' networks. These data includes alliances with the most important neighbours, commercial or mining entreprises, matrimonial agreements, purchases and sales of properties, participations in political matters, wars, benefits to relatives and intimates, etc. These documents must be used within the context of wider records (Notarial Protocols, acts of Cabildos, agreements books of the Audiencias, private letters, etc.) which give evidence on the intrincate relationships that several hearers performed in their corresponding jurisdiction. |
