These data includes alliances with the most important neighbours, commercial or mining entreprises, matrimonial agreements, purchases and sales of properties, participations in political matters, wars, benefits to relatives and intimates, etc. These documents must be used within the context of wider records (Notarial Protocols, acts of Cabildos, agreements books of the Audiencias, private letters, etc.) which give evidence on the intrincate relationships that several hearers performed in their corresponding jurisdiction. Los juicios de residencias americanos son una herramienta fundamental para la reconstrucción de la vida social y la actuación profesional de los magistrados coloniales. Los testigos consultados por el juez de residencia, dejaban plasmado datos importantes de las redes de los ministros. En ellos hallamos las alianzas con los principales vecinos, empresas comerciales o mineras, acuerdos matrimoniales, compra y venta de propiedades inmuebles, participación en intrigas políticas, guerras, beneficios para parientes y allegados, etc. La utilización de estos documentos debe siempre realizarse en función de otros más amplios (Protocolos Notariales, actas de Cabildos, libros de acuerdo de las Audiencias, cartas privadas, etc.) que den cuenta de las intrincadas relaciones que muchos oidores realizaron en la jurisdicción que cumplían su oficio.
