The present paper is about the experience of those companies who used that kind of financing and its relationship to the BHN’s policies and operative. The building association was developed by private sector until 1949, because at that time his client portfolio was transferred to BHN by order of the Central Bank. Afterward, some firms continued operating with the BHN as construction companies in a context of increasing activity. En Argentina, la política de vivienda se identifica con el rol desempeñado por el Banco Hipotecario Nacional (BHN) y especialmente con las políticas promovidas durante el peronismo. Sin embargo, previamente a la intervención estatal, compañías privadas utilizaron un tipo de financiamiento hipotecario a bajo interés conocido como crédito recíproco desde 1935. Este trabajo se ocupa de las empresas que utilizaron ese tipo de financiamiento y su relación con las políticas y operatoria del BHN. La modalidad del crédito recíproco se desarrolló en el sector privado hasta 1949, cuando su cartera de clientes fue transferida al BHN por disposición del Banco Central. Desde entonces algunas de las empresas del sector continuaron operando con el BHN como compañías constructoras, en un contexto de expansión de la actividad.
