In this context, Argentina went from historiography fragments summaries based on systematic studies with several sources. In this case the joint develop several different records to account for the data of overseas trade of hides. La historiografía clásica vinculada al comercio ultramarino se sirvió para el análisis de los resúmenes de la Casa de Contratación. En la década de 1970 Michel Morineau realizó una crítica metodológica de los datos vertidos sobre el comercio ultramarino hasta ese momento a partir de la utilización de las Gazettes Holandesas. En este contexto la historiografía argentina pasó de basarse en fragmentos de resúmenes a estudios sistemáticos con varias fuentes.
