This museum emerged as a cabinet from the School of Philosophy and Literature, directly linked to teaching and university research, reason why their file documentation evidence activities linked to the emerging disciplines. It contains administrative documents, collections files and materials of researchers and professors who have been linked with the Museum. This documentation has allowed us to research in scientific and institutional practices, and to the extent in which they are being investigated for their description and digitized in part, has allowed us to dissemin ate this heritage to a broad public. En este trabajo se presenta el corpus documental del Archivo del Museo Etnográfico de la Universidad de Buenos Aires y el potencial que ofrecen estos materiales para una historia de la institución y de las prácticas que se desarrollaron en el proceso de institucionalización de la arqueología y la etnografía en nuestro país. Este museo surgió como un gabinete de la Facultadde Filosofía y Letras, ligado directamente a la enseñanza e investigación universitaria, razón por la cual la documentación de su archivo evidencia las actividades vinculadas a las disciplinas emergentes. Contiene documentos administrativos, legajos de colecciones y material de investigadores y los profesores que han estado vinculados con el museo. Este material de archivonos ha permitido indagar en las prácticas científicas e institucionales y, en la medida en que están siendo investigados para su descripción y digitalizados en parte, nos ha permitido difundir este acervo a un público más amplio.
