The monitoring techniques of the police system were included as part of the design of the building. The DIPPBA was closed on 30 April 1998. The archive contains data from 1932 until its closure. In this regard, the documents produced both by civilian and military governments, were formed as direct antecedents of the mechanisms of intelligence that supported the political repression. This article deals about the origin of this archive and its relevance as a ground to shed light on different periods of Argentina´s recent history. It also discuss about the different ways of studying archives containing intelligence documents. El archivo de la Dirección de Inteligencia de la Policía de la Provincia de Buenos Aires es uno de los pocos que se encontró con una estructura archivística originaria. Las técnicas de vigilancia se conformaron como parte del diseño del lugar, siendo la propia organización espacial del control la que se trasladó a la arquitectura del archivo. Dicha Dirección fue disuelta el 30 de abril de 1998 y su reservorio documental data desde 1932 hasta su cierre. En este sentido, se comprende que los documentos hallados producidos tanto por gobiernos civiles como militares, se conformaron como antecedentes directos de los mecanismos de inteligencia que fueron el sustento de la persecución y la represión política. Este trabajo problematizará acerca del origen de su conformación, la importancia del archivo de la Dirección de Inteligencia como espacio para iluminar distintas coyunturas de la historia reciente argentina y los posibles abordajes a la hora de investigar este fondo documental.
