His drawings circulated in numerous posters that wallpapered the cities duringthe sixties and the beginning of the seventies, they constituted marks of a visual culture of the period.Since 2015, an interdisciplinary team is taking forward a project of cataloging and research on thisarchive located at the Instituto de Investigaciones sobre el Patrimonio Cultural of Universidad Nacionalde San Martín (IIPC/Tarea-UNSAM). The aim of this article is to give an account of the particularitiesof the Carpani Archive, the materiality of its documents and some conceptual and historiographicconsiderations around it. The documents of the Carpani Archive are a key to develop new readingsof one of the most impacting imaginaries produced by a national artist along the 20th century. Ricardo Carpani (1930-1997) fue el creador de imágenes inconfundibles dentro de la historia del arte social en la Argentina. Sus dibujos circularon en numerosos afiches que empapelaron las ciudades durante los años sesenta y comienzos de los setenta y que constituyeron marcas de una cultura visual de la época. Desde 2015, un equipo interdisciplinario está llevando adelante un proyecto de catalogación e investigación sobre este archivo, radicado en el Instituto de Investigaciones sobre el Patrimonio Cultural de la Universidad Nacional de San Martín (IIPC/Tarea-UNSAM). Este artículo se propone dar cuenta de las particularidades del Archivo Carpani, de la materialidad de sus documentos y de algunas reflexiones conceptuales e historiográficas en torno a él. Los materiales documentales del Archivo Carpani resultan claves para generar nuevas lecturas respecto de uno de los imaginarios de mayor impacto producidos por un artista nacional a lo largo del siglo XX.
