| Sumario: | The text introduces the examination of the first constitutions of the San Luis Rey de Puebla de los Ángeles’ College. It describes the studies’ arrangement that the Preacher’s Order used to attend mainly their educational necessities but also of the society in Puebla. The review of these institutional regulations exposes the type of academic training which the Order provided to its own community members as well as the seculars, and simultaneously shows the limits that the civil and religious authorities imposed to them in order to grant the degrees that made possible the social climb. |
