In the second and third paragraph it isa question of establishing what the analysis perspectives were on the topic of social history both Europeanand Argentina. There it is noted that, beyond the national peculiarities, the interest in inequality was notaddressed by the researchers directly and as a phenomenon itself, but through tha analysis of varioussituations of exploitation (conflicts, workers organizations, living and working conditions, etc.). These waysof dealing with the issue, generally from the perspective of Marxist analysis, prevented for years fromthinking of inequality in more complex terms such as gender inequities, race, etnia or, as has occurred fromthe economic and social changes of the 1980´s, the vast world of individuals who are outside the world offormal work and State protection policies. Este artículo persigue el objetivo de analizar algunas de las formas en que la historia social ha abordado el fenómeno de la desigualdad económica y social. Se efectúa primero un rápido rastreo de cómo la desigualdad se convirtió en un tema importante de la economía y las ciencias sociales, principalmente la sociología. En el segundo y tercer apartado, se trata de establecer cuáles fueron las perspectivas de análisis sobre el tema de la historia social, tanto europea como argentina. Allí se constata que, más allá de las peculiaridades nacionales, el interés por la desigualdad no fue abordado por los investigadores de manera directa y como un fenómeno en sí mismo, sino a través de las diversas situaciones de explotación (conflictos, organización obrera, condiciones de vida y de trabajo, etc.). Esta forma de abordar la cuestión, generalmente desde perspectivas de análisis marxistas, impidió durante años pensar la desigualdad en términos más complejos, como las inequidades de género, raza, etnia o, como ha ocurrido a partir de los cambios económicos y sociales de los años ochenta, el amplio mundo de individuos que quedan fuera del mundo del trabajo formal y de las políticas de protección estatal.
