Since the last two decades, the written press has become an object of study itself for researchers, taking advantage of its analytical potential for political-social knowledge of the historical reality of the Patagonia. In this sense, the objective of this article is to carry out some theoretical-methodological reflections linked to the Patagonia’s press as an object of study and to point out current advances and perspectives as well as some observable issues in current Patagonian historiography that help to rethink the approach of the newspapers. En la Patagonia, la prensa escrita ocupó un lugar relevante en la trama del poder, narrando o generando conflictos y actuando en muchas ocasiones como un verdadero actor político. Desde las últimas dos décadas la prensa escrita se ha convertido en un objeto de estudio en sí misma para los investigadores, aprovechando su potencialidad analítica para el conocimiento político-social de la realidad histórica patagónica. En este sentido, el objetivo de este artículo es realizar algunas reflexiones teórico-metodológicas vinculadas con la prensa patagónica como objeto de estudio y señalar los avances y perspectivas actuales así como algunas cuestiones observables en la historiografía patagónica actual que ayuden a repensar el abordaje de la prensa escrita.
