Due to this, and with the passing of the years, it is observed that this function is growing, which is why it ceases to be only protocol and become important actors in the political system, to the point of asking ourselves if their functions can or cannot represent the state. Sabemos que oficialmente el estatus de las primeras damas no es una función pública, algunas han participado en la toma de decisiones, haciendo campaña a favor de sus cónyuges, mejorando su imagen, incluso llevando una vida política independiente en forma paralela o posterior a la salida del poder de su cónyuge. En razón a ello, y con el paso de los años, se observa que esta función que va creciendo, motivo por lo cual deja ser solamente protocolar y convertirse en actores importantes del sistema político, hasta el punto de preguntarnos si sus funciones pueden o no representar al Estado.
