After addressing its origins and the way in which public tenders are developed in Córdoba, I will rely – based on a ruling of the Argentine Supreme Court – on the categories of equality and suitability to, introducing the element of chance in accessto public office, discuss the convenience of maintaining a meritocratic system such as the current one. La incorporación del Consejo de la Magistratura a nivel nacional y provincial pretendió, entre otras cosas, despolitizar y dar transparencia a los sistemas de selección de magistrados/as. Luego de abordar sus orígenes y la forma en la que se desarrollan los concursos públicos en Córdoba, me apoyaré–a partir de una sentencia de la Corte Suprema argentina– en las categorías de igualdad e idoneidad para, introduciendo el elemento del azar en el acceso a cargos públicos, discutir sobre la conveniencia de mantener un sistema meritocrático como el actual.
