Next, and as a result of this prevalence obtained, the actions of this regional sports organization during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic will be examined, through its decisions regarding football competitions, both at the club level and of the different national teams that integrate. In this sense, it will be observed that, despite the health risks for the nation states, the sporting event was many times above government decisions with the sole purpose of continuing to contest the competitions so that football continues to be a highly profitable business. El presente artículo analiza y describe a la Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL) desde el punto de vista de las relaciones internacionales, como un organismo relevante de carácter regional producto de la globalización, la globalización cultural y la transnacionalización. Seguidamente, y fruto de esa prevalencia obtenida, se examinará el accionar de esta organización deportiva regional durante la pandemia de coronavirus Covid-19, a través de sus decisiones en materia de competencias futbolísticas, tanto a nivel clubes como de los diferentes seleccionados nacionales que la integran. En ese sentido, se observará que, a pesar de los riesgos sanitarios para los Estados nacionales, el espectáculo deportivo estuvo muchas veces por encima de las decisiones gubernamentales con el sólo objeto de continuar disputando las competencias para, de esa forma, el fútbol continúe siendo un negocio altamente redituable.
