The increase in the expectation and quality of life of people offers new learning opportunities. These opportunities can be developed in multiple contexts, including museums and other non-formal education spaces. The article presents an experience carried out within two cognitive stimulation workshops proposed by the National University of Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina. Theoretical perspectives on neurosciences, the elderly and museums are shown. A particular proposal and the senses constructed by a group of older people about their conceptions, previous experiences and possible proposals in museums are commented, as well as their experiences in the workshop. Positive evaluations are highlighted regarding the museum space and the possibilities of generating initiatives according to the needs of this group. Finally, final considerations are shared in terms of challenges and new initiatives. El envejecimiento de la población se presenta como un desafío para la mayoría de las sociedades occidentales. El aumento de la expectativa y calidad de vida de las personas ofrece nuevas oportunidades de aprendizaje. Estas oportunidades pueden ser desarrolladas en múltiples contextos, entre ellos los museos y otros espacios de educación no formal. En el artículo se presenta una experiencia realizada en el marco de dos talleres de estimulación cognitiva promovidos por la Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina. Se muestran perspectivas teóricas sobre neurociencias, personas mayores y museos. Se comenta una propuesta en particular y los sentidos construidos por un grupo de personas mayores acerca de sus concepciones, experiencias previas y posibles propuestas en museos, así como sus vivencias en el taller. Se destacan valoraciones positivas en torno al espacio museo y las posibilidades de generar iniciativas acordes a las necesidades de este colectivo. Finalmente, se comparten consideraciones finales en término de desafíos y nuevas iniciativas.
