This occurs in many literary genres such as the fantastic, in which one of the greatest exponents is Samanta Schweblin. I am going to analyse the diversity of constructions of motherhood that Schweblin presents in the novel Distancia de rescate and in the shorts stories “Pájaros en la boca”, “Conservas” and “En la estepa” from the anthology Pájaros en la boca y otros tales. The female authors of our century make motherhood visible as a decision and not as an imposition, as they addressfertility issues and the dark side of motherhood. Thus, the construction of motherhood that responds to the patriarchal model is eliminated to give rise to a construction from a feminist perspective that is closer to real experience and moves away from the idealization of the maternal role. On the other hand, I am going to establish a connection with the use of the fantastic genre in the 20th century, specifically with Julio Cortázar, in order to identify what similarities and differences we... En este artículo me interesa destacar la presencia de las escritoras en la literatura argentina del siglo XXI, porque desde sus voces ingresan temáticas y debates feministas. Esto ocurre en diversos géneros literarios, como en el caso del fantástico, donde una de las mayores exponentes es Samanta Schweblin. Analizaré la diversidad de construcciones de maternidad que Schweblin presenta en la novela Distancia de rescate y en los cuentos “Pájaros en la boca”, “Conservas” y “En la estepa”, de la antología Pájaros en la boca y otros cuentos. Las autoras de nuestro siglo visibilizan la maternidad como decisión y no como imposición, los problemas de fertilidad y los lados oscuros de la maternidad. Así, se elimina la construcción de la maternidad que responde al modelo patriarcal para dar lugar a una nueva, desde una perspectiva feminista que se acerca a la experiencia real y que se aparta de la idealización del rol materno. Por otro lado, estableceré una conexión con el uso del género fantástico en el siglo XX, específicamente con Julio Cortázar, para ver qué similitudes y diferencias podemos encontrar entre el fantástico del siglo pasado y el fantástico que emerge en el presente siglo XXI.
