However, monitoring air quality to ensure compliance with guide levels requires continuous systems with high operation and maintenance costs that limit their application. Lichens are effective bioindicators of air quality, since changes in their diversity can be a consequence of the interaction between habitat loss and pollution. In this work it is presented a preliminary evaluation of diversity and cover of lichen communities in two types of ecosystems corresponding to urban areas and native forests with low-impact livestock in the department of Uruguay, province of Entre Ríos, with the objective of establishing a baseline to evaluate the air quality in the city. For this purpose, an ecological survey was carried out, for which three transects were arranged on which 10 phorophytes were selected in each zone. Sampling was carried out using a 20x20 cm grid to determine the frequency of the species and the total coverage of lichens. Samples of each species were taken for laboratory identification and environmental characteristics were recorded. The average species richness was 4 species per tree in the urban area and 12 in the native forest, while the cover was13% to 54% on average, respectively. Regarding the dominant species, Candelaria concolor predominated in urban areas and Crespoa crozalsiana in native forest. A strong impoverishment of the community of epiphytic lichens in the city was observed, being able to infer the impact of the activities that are developed. |

La contaminación del aire, ocasionada principalmente por las emisiones de las actividades antrópicas, representa un importante riesgo ambiental para la salud. Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud, en 2019 el 99% de la población mundial vivía en lugares donde no se respetaban las directrices sobre la calidad del aire. Sin embargo, monitorear la calidad del aire para garantizar el cumplimiento de los niveles guía, demanda sistemas continuos con alto costo de operación y mantenimiento que limitan su aplicación. Los líquenes son un efectivo bioindicador de calidad del aire, dado que los cambios en su diversidad puede ser una consecuencia de la interacción entre la pérdida de hábitat y la contaminación. En este trabajo se plantea como objetivo evaluar la diversidad y cobertura de comunidades liquénicas presentes en dos tipos de ecosistemas correspondientes a área urbana y bosque nativo en el departamento Uruguay, provincia de Entre Ríos para establecer una línea de base para evaluar la calidad de aire en la ciudad. Al efecto, se llevó a cabo un muestreo ecológico, para lo cual se dispusieron tres transectas por zona sobre las cuales se seleccionaron 10 forofitos en cada una. El muestreo se realizó mediante el uso de una grilla cuadriculada de 20x20 cm para determinar la frecuencia de las especies y la cobertura total de líquenes. Se tomaron muestras de cada especie para su identificación en laboratorio y se registraron características de entorno. La riqueza de especies promedio fue de 4 especies por árbol en la zona urbana y de 12 en bosque nativo mientras que la cobertura pasó de 13% a 54% respectivamente. En cuanto a las especies dominantes, predominaron Candelaria concolor en zona urbana y Crespoa crozalsiana en bosque nativo. Se observó un fuerte empobrecimiento de la comunidad de líquenes epífitos en la ciudad, pudiendo inferir el impacto de las actividades que se desarrollan.
