This tissue type is known as plectenchyma (or pseudoparenchymatous tissue) but in lichenized fungi the terminology applied to subtypes of plectenchyma has not been standardized and varies from author to author. The differences between the definitions of the authors lead to conceptual problems that interfere directly in the clear and technical description of the different anatomical layers that exist in lichens. With the improvement of observation systems, through the use of light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy and scanning, the micro morphological observations have shown great potential for application in many taxonomic groups of lichens showing the importance of standardization of terms used in anatomical studies. Las distintas capas del talo estratificado de la mayoría de los líquenes se forman a partir de variaciones en los patrones de agrupación de las hifas, que pueden organizarse en tejidos con apariencia de organización parenquimatosa. Este tipo de tejido se conoce como plecténquima (o pseudoparénquima), pero en los hongos liquenizados la terminología aplicada a los subtipos de plecténquima aún no se ha estandarizado y varía de un autor a otro. Las diferencias entre las definiciones de los autores conducen a problemas conceptuales que interfieren clara y directamente en la descripción técnica de las diferentes capas anatómicas que se encuentran en los líquenes. Con la mejora de los sistemas de observación, mediante el uso de microscopía óptica y microscopía electrónica de transmisión y barrido, las observaciones morfológicas de los microcaracteres han mostrado un gran potencial de aplicabilidad taxonómica en muchos grupos de líquenes, lo que demuestra la importancia de estandarizar los términos utilizados en los estudios anatómicos. Este tipo de tecido é conhecido como plectênquima (ou pseudoparênquima), mas em fungos liquenizados a terminologia aplicada aos subtipos de plectênquima ainda não foi padronizada e varia de autor para autor. As divergências entre as definições dos autores levam a problemas conceituais que interferem clara e diretamente na descrição técnica das diferentes camadas anatômicas existentes nos liquens. Com o aperfeiçoamento dos sistemas de observação, através da utilização de microscopia de luz e microscopia eletrônica de transmissão e varredura, as observações morfológicas dos microcaracteres têm mostrado grande potencial de aplicabilidade taxonômica em muitos grupos de liquens mostrando a importância de padronização dos termos utilizados em estudos anatômicos.
