description Between 1878 and 1930, in the north of present Province of La Pampa there were a transformation of the space frontier to one of rural campaign inserted into agrarian capitalism changes. Within these different historical contexts, actors (indigenous peoples, soldiers and settlers, etc.) incorporated various social practices that created different landscapes. To develop an understanding of this process will apply different techniques of spatial analysis using geographic information systems (GIS). This technological toolwill allow us to observe and understand the change and / or continuity of social practices in the use of space in the study area (departments Trenel, Realicó, Chapaleufú, Maracó and Rancul) and generate archaeological expectations regarding detection of settlements and roads. To do this we will proceed to analyze cartographic sources, cadastral reports and oral memory. This paper is a frst application of the methodology applied. For this, a specifc area was selected (roads and settlements extending to the southwest of thetown of Parera), which will analyze the dynamics between the paths (rastrilladas, rural roads and railways) and rural settlements (pulperías, ranchos, among others) located near the town of Parera.
