description Secondary burials in the catholic temples of the colonial city of Mendoza (16th-19th  centuries are the most frequent burial type recorded in Área Fundacional (Mendoza). The objective is to study health conditions of the colonial society of northern Mendoza. The sample is composed of bone elements 1233 and 1012 teeth of adults and subadults of secondary burials recovered from archaeological locality/area of La Caridad (Área Fundacional), corresponding to a colonial catholic church (century XVIII-XIX). The Mortality profle was reconstructed and porotic hyperostosis and enamel hypoplasias were recorded. The results indicate a Minimum Number of 44 Individuals (17 subadults and 27 adults) of both sexes (16 male, 17 female and 11 undetermined). Porotic hyperostosisaffected 54.55% of adult skulls and 25% of the subadult. Dental enamel hypoplasias were present in 31.68% of teeth and produced from fetal age to 6 and a half years. The buried individuals had high exposure to nutritional defciencies and/or infectious processes from an early age. However, resources and care were available thus that allowing them to survive the successive episodes of systemic metabolic stress.
