description This paper is focused on rock art representations from the Valle de El Bolsón (Catamarca, Argentina), approaching them from a theoretical perspective linked with the location of these sites and the hypothetical networks of relationships that they integrated, not only within a determined space but also along time. In this sense, we will be inquiring about some characteristic features of this microrregion’s rock art, attending to formal, technical, stylistic and contextual aspects in order to acknowledge the role that it may have developed in its linkage with internodal spaces. Thus, the re-examination of sites already described elsewhere in conjunction with new ones, allowed us the proposal of an “art of the roads” concept. At the same time, the use of the concept of "persistent places" enable us to frame this art of the roads within a long duration perspective which allows to address rock art as a practice of production and reception of messages in the internodes.
