description The aim of this article is to present a synthesis of the results of bioarchaeological studies on human bone and dental remains from the Colección Doncellas of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología y Pensamiento Latinoamericano. These come from the Doncellas or Agua Caliente de Rachaite site (Departamento de Cochinoca, Puna de Jujuy, República Argentina). The chronology of the site corresponds to the Periodo Tardío and Tardío-Inka. The composition of the sample structure was established through the determination of sex, the estimation of age and the minimum number of individuals. The paleopathological analysis consisted of evaluating indicators of metabolic-systemic stress, mechanical or functional stress, infectious lesions and oral health. The results obtained indicate that the sample is conformed, mostly, by adult female individuals. A low frequency of infection indicators and a regular oral health status were detected. Advanced joint injuries and evidence of traumatic process not associated with cases of interpersonal violence were also found. Part of the injuries could respond to some type of mortuary treatment. These results are discussed in relation to the bioarchaeological information available for other sites in the region.
