Evaluating coherence and integrity of the archaeological record of TPV1 (El Infiernillo, Tucumán, Argentina). First approach from ceramic evidence

The location called TPV1 is an opencast site with abundant surface material, such as lithic and ceramic, in the area of El Infiernillo in the province of Tucumán. This material presented morphologies and designs tentatively assignable to chronologies before and after 2.500 BP. From this evidence it...

description The location called TPV1 is an opencast site with abundant surface material, such as lithic and ceramic, in the area of El Infiernillo in the province of Tucumán. This material presented morphologies and designs tentatively assignable to chronologies before and after 2.500 BP. From this evidence it was decided to excavate in a manner that could provide a more comprehensive and accurate timeframe to the recovered context. Within this frame, we aimed to contribute to the determination of the degree of reliability, consistency and integrity of the dynamic record found in both surface and layer. This was done by implementing a comparative analysis of those characteristics in ceramic material that allow us to make inferences about different processes that could act on the archaeological record. This study allowed us to confirm the reliability and stability of contexts in a site with recurring occupations.
