Quebrada La Chinchilla is placed at the southern portion of the Atacama desert, near to the miner town Inca de Oro. Because of the superficial pottery, it has been possible to associate human occupation from early-pottery period to later period, and identify the manufacture of lithics and mineral beads as the kind of activities carried out at the ravine. The archaeological sites observed at the ravine are placed near to ore veins, lithic quarries, water resources and nearby flat lands, which led us to hypothesize about what kind of spatial relationship would be developed at La Chinchilla, which by logic would be focus on the cultural placement around the distribution of these specific natural elements. We applied landscape archaeological methodologies, which have been interpreted from cultural distribution according to the natural environment where they are inserted. |
