description A set of vegetable macro-remains found at Cueva El Abra archaeological site is analyzed. This is a rock shelter which top component has been dated in 958±32 AP. It presents diagnostic Late Holocene materials, raw materials and goods that indicate extra-regional contacts. Thirteen whole endocarps of archaeological peach, one of them with heat traces, and four halves, three carbonized, were analyzed. All were recovered in the same sector of the cave around an iron pot containing remains of a child’s shoe and a horse’s bone over the mouth, as covering it. Along it were four bases of gin stoneware bottles, different in size and color, dyed by a black patina, apparently soot. The presence of endocarps of Prunus persica (L.) Batsch. in a modern context of Cueva El Abra site is the first material evidence of the use of this fruit by rural villagers who lived in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Due to the characteristics of the finding, one might conclude that the completely peach endocarps found in Cueva El Abra, could be part of a ritual episode.
