description This work presents a proposal of analysis on historical ceramic materials combining Optical Microscopy, Confocal Microscopy and Electronic Microscopy with X-rays Spectrometer (SEM-EDS). The departure point was the problematic observed on one reduced sample of fragments (N: 9) coming from the excavation of the site Pintoscayoc 6, whose context was dated in 270±80AP, and on which previous analysts, with a typological perspective of analysis, recognized a substance in their external surfaces that could not be determined. With the aim to evaluate the probable presence of glass or enamel finishing of surfaces, one of these fragments has been compared analytically with a diverse set of ceramic fragments with clear indicators of this type of finishes. The analytical results and the comparison between these different types of ceramic fragments allow us to put on relief the importance of the adoption of an archaeometric perspective for the study of all the historical ceramic materials but, in special, for those that do not have clear stylistic indicators that allow us to classify them normative and chronologically.
