description       The main purpose of this paper is to contribute to the knowledge of the rock art of the province of La Rioja, through the analysis of Los Coloradosarcheological site. A general description including environment, location of rock art engravings and other archeological evidence is presented. The representations are characterized considering types, subtypes, superimpositions, and differences in desert varnish shades. The integration of this data with the sequence proposed for the neighboring Palancho archaeological site. Stylistic similarities are stablished with other rock art and mobiliary art expressions from regional locations. Groups 1 (periodo Medio or Integración Regional) and 4 (Desarrollos Regionales of Sanagasta style) from Palancho are identified as well as similarities with the Aguada iconography.           In this paper we present two sites with rock engravings located at different altitudes of western Tinogasta and ascribed to the fiirst millennium of the era: Suri Potrero and Los Morteros. Through the application of a series of multivariate statistical methods that simultaneously analyze multiple records for each of the images, we analyze the repertoire of imagesdisplayed on each site and the visual resources used for its resolution. In addition, we evaluate the viewing conditions that characterize them. Finally we focus on the changes and/or the continuities in the practice of inscription of certain types of images on “fixed” media located in spaces that connect different ecozones of Fiambalá region and that, even though theydefi ne characteristic landscapes of the fi rst millennium societies, they are part of different cultural tangles.
