description This paper analyzes processes of memory related to the mobility of the inhabitants of a rural community in the Quebrada de Humahuaca from a perspective based on the anthropology of experience. The focus of the analysis is the body and its movements as experiential supports of this memory related to a transited and inhabited landscape. The research methodology consisted in walking with residents of different ages along community paths and treks that link the community with neighboring localities while holding informal interviews. In addition, data about the residents’ personal histories and the social memory of the community was gathered during individual and group open interviews held in their homes and at the local school. As a result, it was observed that changes in the way of moving in the landscape caused by the construction of new vehicular routes and shifts of life strategies have modified the body experience of the inhabitants in relation to the landscape and have affected the ways the social memory of the community is constructed and transmitted.
