Sumario: | La Herradura site is located 18 km NW from Cachi, in the north of the Calchaqui Valley. It is constituted by four platforms with an important set of engravings, associated with enclosures. The set is interpreted as a ritual place. From an iconographic and spatial analysis, we were able to differentiate, characterize and interpret representations assignable to different moments of the culturaldevelopment of the region, assigned to early and late times. This early motifs are represented through the figure of the feline and have been incorporated into the late composition as they are integrated within the same supports. The chronological disparity of the representations leads us to propose that La Herradura site constitutes a place of memory. The choice of the same places in different times could suggest the existence of a continuity in the memory process, where the earliest motifs played an active role in late ritual practice. |
