description In this paper we undertake the study of archaeological material (lithics and ceramics) recovered on Villa Vil area (Dpto. Belén, Catamarca) from a taphonomic perspective. It is our intention to contribute to the current state of knowledge about formation processes of archaeological deposit in this location; departing from an evaluation and identification of the effects that these processes have caused on archaeological materials such as lithics and ceramics. Analized materials were recovered by surface survey as well as from exposed profiles in alluvial terraces of El Bolsón River at Villa Vil Location (Belén, Catamarca). First, based on the study of stratigraphic profiles, we built a model for events and post-depositional processes that formed deposits. Then, following literature on the subject, we generated analysis protocols based on characteristics exhibited by the materials collected and the taphonomic agents potentially related to our model. Data obtained show that the set of processes that took place in this deposit conformation would have been more complex than we initially expected.
