description The different managements in the history of the Cachi Museum “Pío Pablo Díaz” had among its varied objectives to intervene directly in the protection, activation or enhancement of El Tero archaeological site. These actions shaped a process that beganin the mid-1970s and continues to the present day.From the analysis of the Museum  Archive and some scientific publications, it is possible to establish a close link between these  archaeological interventions, theinstitutional policy and the theoretical perspectives of each time. This relationship would be evidencingremarkable differences that lie mainly in the way of conceiving heritage. From these differences, we will try to analyze how those developed projects, with different views, intervened in El Tero archaeological site. In thisway, we will examine into the Cachi Archaeological Museum history, allowing us to synthesize thechanges regarding the archaeological heritage policy management and conservation.
