description This article seeks to contribute to a more comprehensive knowledge of Chilean exile in Argentina between the years that comprise the third Peronist government (1973-1976), the military dictatorship (1976-1983) and the democratic transition (1983-1990). In particular, it aims to contribute to a line of inquiry sustained in recent years by several colleagues interested in reconstructing the experiences of Latin Americans who arrived in Argentina in the context of forced mobilities. These trajectories had not been previously visible since Argentina was considered to have been an exile-producing country rather than a place of reception. This work seeks to emphasize the life experience of exiles with a focus on childhood. Using the methodology of oral history, this work recovers the experiences and memories of Pilar Barredo Sandoval, who, just barely six years old, arrived in Buenos Aires in exile along with her mother and sister. Through Pilar's personal history, the article goes through the difficult situations that Chilean families had to go through in Argentina and allows us to show how experiences, memories and silences cannot be understood outside the context of exile.
