description This research addresses the trajectory of Lysânea Maciel in defense of human rights during the Brazilian military dictatorship and has two main objectives: to show, through his trajectory, the existence of a blunt opposition within the Brazilian Congress, from 1971 to 1976, when he was a federal deputy for the then State of Guanabara, and also in exile, when, working for the World Council of Churches (WCC), in Geneva, he continued his trajectory of opposition to repression. To this end, it is based on research in newspapers and on Lysânea's personal archive, in addition to CMI documents that allow us to shed light on this post-cassation trajectory, a period about which little is known.
