We present the results of M.A.N.A. and Not Typological methods applied quartz lithic assemblages recovered at El Alto archaeological site, located in the north side of Ampuqcatao hill (Tafí Valley, Tucumán Province). The materials came from the excavation of two enclosures associated to farming terraces which forms a productive set ascribed to the second millennium. The study was aimed at recognizing stages of lithic production sequence developed within the enclosures, to understand the practices that would have related materials, people and landscape, and to determine the potential of the methodologies for the study of quartz artifacts. The results allowed identifying early stages of lithic production, which would be carried out within embedded strategies related to agropastoral production tasks. On the other hand, methodologies proved to be complementary of techno-typological studies allowing a better understanding of the lithic technological sequences. |
