description This article poses an exploration by a number of key moments in the intellectual path of Álvaro García Linera. This route and its intellectual production, have attracted recently a double interest, justified by its condition, for more than one decade, Vice-President of Bolivia, joining President Evo Morales, and for his contributions to contemporary Latin American social and political thought increasingly widespread since the end of the years ´90. Here we propose a look that, based on the contributions of intellectual history and the sociology of culture, seeks to understand the theoretical production of García Linera and their interventions politico-intellectuals according to specific emergency conditions, to social situations, traditions and cultural spaces and also specific disputes. At the same time, it aims to generate an entry route specific - the analysis of part of the symbolic plot and to the cultural production of a time - for the approach of the social and political processes in which such intellectual exercises are developed. The period we are dealing begins with the stage of intellectual formation of García Linera and extends up to the Bolivian Government, and its own role in it -showed signs of having reached a stage of consolidation after several political crises. Moment in which our author also produced a series of texts of a new historical stage and a specific intellectual profile.
