The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of depressive symptoms and burnout syndrome in staff of the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery. The Burnout Inventory (MBI-HS) and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were applied. Secretarial staff presented the higher rate of depressive symptoms. Concerning the MBI-HS differences were found regarding the lack of personal accomplishment and feelings towards patients according to the different categories of workers. En los centros de trabajo se generan estresores que influyen en el agotamiento emocional, despersonalización y en la falta de realización personal de los trabajadores, las poblaciones más vulnerables son las que tienen contacto con el público. El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la prevalencia de síntomas depresivos y del Síndrome de Burnout en personal trabajador del Instituto Nacional de Neurología y Neurocirugía. Se aplicó el Burnout Inventary (MBI-HS) y el inventario Depresión de Beck (BDI). El personal secretarial fue quien presentó mayor número de síntomas depresivos. Con respecto al (MBI-HS) se encontraron diferencias en relación a la falta de realización personal y sentimientos hacia los pacientes de acuerdo a las diferentes categorías de trabajadores.
