The question regarding how new and how radi- cal these unexpectedly growing players are always comes back in order to compare similarities and differences. From this analyti- cal focus, this article seeks to present and challenge the case of Cabildo Abierto, the newest and also the most challenging party/ movement presented by current Uruguayan politics. Its origins and background are analyzed, the profiles of its leader and its main leaders, its most outstanding definitions and some of its relevant performances throughout its short history, from its participation in the 2019 electoral process to its immediate integration into the government coalition led by President Lacalle Pou since March 2020.
