From the analysis of this case, we will present a series of reflections on the contradictions, conflicts, and transformations involved in the definition of inhabiting, possessing, and the role of communities and individuals in these acts. We will argue that understanding our subjects of study as part of a “collective” in dispute is useful to make visible the particular logics through which they were linked to land, water, the law, and other actors.
