Using in-depht interviews and notes published in the massive press, this paper examines the particularities of the event, specially the enormous success of the fashion shows. My working hypothesis suggests that the Bienal can be read as a hinged event that collects and amplifies poetics and ways of the Buenos Aires counterculture of the 80s, while anticipating experiences between art, fashion and design that will be crucial over the following decades.
