However, the offers of products and therapeutic practices that operated from the margins of the biomedicine are still pending exploration. The objective of this article is, on the one hand, to analyze the advertisements for over-the-counter medications and condoms in the Buenos Aires press, which were supplemented with prescription indications for graduate medicine. On the other, to examine two cases of charlatanism in order to illuminate the complex health and political fabric from social actors marginalized both by the biomedicine of the moment, as by current historiography. Médicos, religiosos y policías han sido objetos de estudios para adentrarse en las experiencias acaecidas en los fatídicos meses que presenció Buenos Aires durante la epidemia de fiebre amarilla de 1871. Sin embargo, la oferta de productos y prácticas terapéuticas que operaron desde los márgenes de la biomedicina continúa aún pendiente de exploración. El presente artículo tiene como objetivos, por un lado, analizar las publicidades de medicamentos y preservativos de venta libre en la prensa porteña que se complementó con las indicaciones recetadas por la medicina diplomada. Por otro lado, examinar dos casos de charlatanería con el fin de iluminar la compleja trama sanitaria y política a partir de actores sociales marginados tanto por la biomedicina del momento, como por la historiografía actual.
