The objectives of this work are analysing and characterising the teachers’ and students’ participation in the virtual classroom; studying the exploitation of resources and tools available in the teaching and learning platform inserted in the 2.0 web; and proposing strategies that might be used by teachers and students in pursuit of favouring communication and interaction within virtual environments, and mediated by technology. El presente artículo analiza, a partir de la revisión de distintos modelos teóricos propuestos desde la comunicación y la semiótica multimodal, el proceso de interacción llevado a cabo en el aula virtual, con el fin de proponer estrategias comunicacionales que favorezcan la construcción del conocimiento. Para ello, caracteriza las participaciones que realizan los docentes y los estudiantes en el aula virtual y estudia el aprovechamiento de los recursos y herramientas disponibles en una plataforma de enseñanza y aprendizaje inserta en la Web 2.0, a fin de proponer estrategias que podrían ser utilizadas por los docentes y estudiantes en pos de favorecer la comunicación e interacción en este tipo de entornos, mediados por tecnología.
