For this, we propose a reading of the film as an analytical text, which is possible to examine from anthropology and sociology, taking into account Jean Baudrillard’s proposal about symbolical exchange as the central axis of analysis. The importance of food into relationships and social ties implies a series of circuits and stratifications inside the communities, or in the prison where thefilm takes place, creating all kinds of symbolic exchanges and new positions among their members. Este artículo hace un breve examen de la película ítalo-brasileña Estómago en clave interdisciplinar, buscando dilucidar las relaciones que entretejen los personajes desde la comida y el acto de comer. Para ello proponemos una lectura del film como texto de análisis que se puede examinar desde la antropología y la sociología, teniendo como eje central de análisis la propuesta de Jean Baudrillard sobre el intercambio simbólico. La importancia de la comida dentro de las relaciones y los vínculos sociales comportan una serie de circuitos y estratificaciones al interior de las comunidades, o en el caso del film al interior de la cárcel donde se desarrolla parte de la historia, generando toda suerte intercambios simbólicos y nuevos posicionamientos entre los miembros de las mismas.
