This paper analyses its gestation and application in the American States, inquiries about the current status of ratifications, and assesses its suitability as a regional instrument. El "Pacto de Bogotá" de 1948 es parte de un sistema de solución pacífica de controversias -perteneciente al Sistema Interamericano- y su valor ha sido permanentemente discutido por la doctrina especializada. En este trabajo se analiza su gestación y aplicación en los Estados americanos, así como también se indaga sobre el actual estatus de ratificaciones para, finalmente, evaluar su conveniencia como instrumento regional.
