In this sense, we would like to point out that the work of the Peruvian writer is permeated by an Amerindian perspective and that, for this reason, his form of artistic expression becomes a critical process of the form that has come from overseas. We will depart, then, from the notion of vital immanence in El pez de oro, in front of the aseptic transcendence of the European thought configuration, in general terms. In order to verify our point of view, we will present the patterns of the Amerindian and Western episteme proposed by the french anthropologist Philippe Descola, basically, so that our hermeneutical journey leads us to unveil the uniqueness of Churata's work in a broader framework of understanding not belonging to the hegemonic modalities of knowing. El siguiente texto procura abordar el problema de la concepción del espacio en El pez de oro de Gamaliel Churata y cómo esta haría frente a la construcción espacial occidental. En ese sentido, queremos hacer notar que la obra del escritor peruano se encuentra permeada por una mirada amerindia y que, por ello, su forma de expresión artística deviene en un proceso crítico de la forma venida de ultramar. Partiremos, entonces, de la noción de inmanencia vital en El pez de oro, frente a la trascendencia aséptica de la configuración del pensamiento europeo, en términos generales. Para conseguir comprobar nuestro punto de vista, presentaremos los patrones de la episteme amerindia y occidental propuestos por los antropólogos francés y brasileño, Philippe Descola y Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, respectivamente, de modo que nuestro caminar hermenéutico nos conduzca a develar la singularidad de la obra de Churata en un marco más amplio de comprensión no perteneciente a las modalidades hegemónicas del saber.
