description Objective: The study was to explore elder’s feeding process mind construction in different stages of life.   Study selection, source and data extraction: Through a qualitative study with a phenomenological focus and using semi-structured interviews and discussion groups, it has been deepened into the perception of the childhood, adulthood and current experience towards the feeding process. As data sources, 28 elders that accomplished with the selection criterions of the investigation participated in it. Their answers were coded through the program NVivo 10 and for the conclusions it was used the content analysis through research triangulation.   Data synthesis: For childhood, the feeding process is understood as healthy, associated to the availability of natural products and limited access to manufactured products. Adulthood was not considered as important in their feeding attention, situation that is opposed in their current life cycle, because it is perceived the necessity of a healthy feeding, though related to their health care.   Conclusions: It is presented the meaning construction in elder people related to their feeding in key stages of their life, like in the childhood, adulthood and current experience as elder. Childhood and elderly stages are perceived as positive for a healthy feeding process.

Objetivo: Explorar la construcción mental que presentan adultos mayores de la alimentación en distintas etapas de su vida.   Selección de estudio, fuente y extracción de datos: A través de un estudio cualitativo, de enfoque fenomenológico y utilizando entrevistas semiestructuradas y grupos de discusión, se profundizó en la percepción de la etapa de niñez, adultez y vivencia actual frente a la alimentación. Como fuentes de datos, participaron 28 personas mayores que cumplían con criterios de selección de la investigación. Sus respuestas fueron codificadas a través de programa NVivo 10, recodificadas para ser posteriormente analizadas. Para obtener las conclusiones, se utilizó el análisis de contenido a través de triangulación de investigadores. Síntesis de datos:Durante la infancia, se interpreta una alimentación sana vinculada a la disponibilidad de alimentos naturales y el limitado acceso a productos industrializados. La adultez no fue considerada como trascendental con relación a su atención hacia los alimentos, situación que se contradice en su etapa de vida actual, ya que se percibe la necesidad de una alimentación sana, pero relacionada a sus cuidados de salud.   Conclusiones: Se presenta la construcción de significados en las personas mayores relacionadas con la valoración positiva de su alimentación en etapas clave de su existencia, como son la infancia y su actual vivencia como persona mayor. Objetivo: Explorar na construção mental da alimentação de idosos em diferentes etapas de suas vidas. Seleção de estudo, fonte e extração de dados: Através de um estudo qualitativo, com enfoque fenomenológico e utilização de entrevistas semiestruturadas e grupos de discussão, se aprofundou a percepção da fase de infância, idade adulta e experiência actual como adulto mais velho em relação à sua alimentação. Como fontes de dados, 28 idosos preencheram os critérios de seleção da pesquisa. Suas respostas foram codificadas através do programa NVivo 10, recodificadas para serem analisadas. Para as conclusões, utilizou-se análise de conteúdo através de triangulação de pesquisadores. Síntese dos dados: durante a infância, a disponibilidade de alimentos naturais está associada a uma dieta saudável e acesso limitado ao alimento industrializado. A idade adulta não foi reconhecida como importante para sua alimentação, uma situação que se contradiz em seu ciclo de vida atual, porque a necessidade de alimentação saudável é percebida, mas relacionada a seus cuidados de saúde. Conclusões: uma construção de significados é identificada em idosos relacionados à avaliação positiva de sua dieta em estágios-chave de sua existência, como a infância e sua experiência atual como pessoa idosa.
