The current study provides a systematic bibliographic review on proactivity, framed methodologically in bibliometric analysis and content analysis. Specialized bases were examined, obtaining 82 scientific publications corresponding to the 2007-2017 period. The most relevant findings indicate: (a) empirical, quantitative and transversal research of Australian, German and North American origins prevails, with scarce presence of Latin American studies; (b) predominates a behavioral and multidimensional proactivity perspective; (b) proactive behaviors are associated with higher productivity, commitment and job satisfaction, although under certain conditions adverse outcomes may develop; (c) among its antecedents are cognitive, affective and instrumental features as well as contextual factors; (d) several self-descriptive instruments are available to measure the construct. The article concludes with some considerations and suggestions for future studies in the area. El término proactividad designa un conjunto de conductas auto-motivadas, centradas en el futuro y orientadas al cambio. El presente trabajo proporciona una revisión bibliográfica sistemática sobre proactividad, enmarcándose metodológicamente en el análisis bibliométrico y el análisis de contenido. Se examinaron bases especializadas obteniéndose 82 publicaciones científicas correspondientes al período 2007-2017. Los hallazgos más relevantes indican que: (a) prevalecen investigaciones empíricas, cuantitativas y transversales, de origen australiano, alemán y norteamericano, con escasa presencia de estudios latinoamericanos; (b) impera una concepción situacional y multidimensional de la proactividad; (b) los comportamientos proactivos se asocian a mayor productividad, compromiso y satisfacción laboral, aunque bajo ciertas condiciones pueden desarrollarse resultados adversos; (c) entre sus antecedentes se encuentran tanto rasgos cognitivos, afectivos e instrumentales como factores contextuales; (d) se dispone de diversos instrumentos auto-descriptivos para medir el constructo. El artículo concluye con algunas consideraciones finales y sugerencias para futuros estudios sobre la temática.
