Taking as reference the developmentalism, industrialization would bring that welfare and productive progress and, for this reason, agrarian reform was an imperative. Although the agrarian reform was demanded by peasant and left movements, it was also considered as a necessity for the dominant bloc during the Sixties. Thus, this article will compare the processes of agrarian reform implemented by the Alliance for Progress in Brazil and Colombia, as well as the reasons for its failure and the reconfiguration of the agrarian structure since the denial to go ahead with those processes. El presente texto abordará el proceso y resultados de las reformas agrarias implementadas en Brasil y Colombia en el marco de la Alianza para el Progreso, como una iniciativa que se llevó a cabo regionalmente. Su objetivo político era evitar la réplica de procesos revolucionarios como el cubano, por medio de la financiación de proyectos productivos y sociales encaminados a ayudar a las “naciones subdesarrolladas”, a partir del aumento de la productividad y el bienestar social. Teniendo como referencia el desarrollismo, la industrialización traería ese bienestar y mejoras productivas, por lo cual, la reforma agraria era un imperativo. Si bien la reforma agraria fue exigida por los movimientos campesinos y de izquierda, ésta también fue vista como una necesidad por el bloque dominante en la década de los sesenta. En este sentido, el artículo comparará los procesos de reforma agraria implementados desde la Alianza para el Progreso en Brasil y Colombia, así como las razones de su fracaso y la reconfiguración de la estructura agraria a partir de la imposibilidad de llevarla adelante.
