Furman and Bhurmester Network of Relationship Inventory was applied to measure the quality of relationships. They also completed Rosenberg Psychosomatic Scale and Kovacs Children Depression Inventory. Data were analyzed using SPSS Program 20. Results indicated that satisfaction with the relationship with peers predicted levels of emotional problems above and beyond the parents, but the bond with parents was more significant in this respect. In the conclusion the implications of these findings are discussed. La adolescencia es una etapa de la vida en la cual se generan profundas transformaciones físicas, cognitivas y sociales. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar si la calidad de los lazos con los pares (hermanos y amigos), predecía la sintomatología de depresión y ansiedad por encima de la relación con padres y madres. Se constituyó una muestra de 1151 alumnos de escuelas medias (46% varones, edad media = 14.7). Se aplicó el Inventario Red de Relaciones de Furman y Buhrmester para medir la calidad de las relaciones, la Escala de Síntomas Psicosomáticos de Rosenberg y el Inventario de Depresión para Niños de Kovacs. Los datos se analizaron en el programa SPSS 20. Los resultados indicaron que la satisfacción con la relación con los pares predecían los niveles de dichos problemas emocionales por encima de los progenitores, pero el efecto de los padres era más significativo. En la discusión se analizan las implicancias de estos hallazgos.
