It was believed that all (the social problems) could be arranged through school-education, forgetting the individual and social factors (out of control). Among others, Faria de Vasconcelos is a portuguese that stands out in Portugal, in the rest of Europe and in Latin America. In line with republican reforms, advocates education for all, and implements numerous projects, of which we report here the twelve lessons of pedagogy and pedology, in the spirit of Escola Nova, that lead to the foundation of the Bierges-les-Wavre school (Belgium) which makes history in psychology. His lessons portray great critical knowledge of psychological’ thesis of the first decades of XXth century, become themselves a testimony of psychology and pedagogy. We also report his contribution to adult education, as innovative and representing the urgency to accomplish a reform of Portuguese mentality, throughout education.Key Words:  A importância da educação, particularmente a educação na infância, no período da instalação da República em Portugal, em 1910, assume um cariz particular que move muitos autores, como médicos, educadores, professores e políticos. Acreditou-se que tudo poderia fazer a escolarização – esquecendo os factores individuais e sociais que não se conseguiram controlar. Entre outros, Faria de Vasconcelos é um português que se destaca no seu país, na restante Europa e na América Latina. Na linha das reformas republicanas, defende uma educação para todos, e concretiza inúmeros projectos, entre os quais damos conta aqui das doze lições de pedagogia e pedologia, que no espírito da Educação Nova levam à criação da escola de Bièrges-les-Wavre (na Bélgica), que fica na história deste movimento. As lições do autor retratam grande conhecimento dos psicólogos da sua época, tornando-se elas próprias um testemunho das teses psicológicas e pedagógicas defendidas no início do século XX. Refere-se também o seu contributo para a educação de adultos, como inovador e representado a urgência na vontade de reformar a mentalidade portuguesa, pela educação.
