The Rutherford scattering and transmission technique was used to determine the electron loss of helium ions in the energy range from 37.5 to 1750 keV/amu. The evaluation of the contributions of the valence electrons and inner-shell to the total energy loss was also discussed. The results show that the contribution of the inner-shell electrons is increased from ∼50% at 37.5 keV/amu to ∼85% at 1.7 MeV/amu.  |l eng
